“The system is very easy to maintain.”

What motivated you to install solar?
It is a clean energy source and we could afford the capital investment.
How many panels do you have, and if you know, how much energy are you producing, percentage of your electric usage?
20 panels. The actual energy output is approximately 4,500 kWh/year, 60% of our total usage.
What has been the biggest benefit so far? What are you excited about?
The system is very easy to maintain. However, the trees keep growing and have reduced our ability to produce electricity.
What were the obstacles to installing solar and what did you do to overcome them?
When we installed our system in 2011 there was a lack of contractor knowledge. We found one who seemed to understand.
What advice do you have for people considering installing solar?
Do not install more than 90% of your annual demand as payment for excess has been reduced. Consider growth of trees over the next 20 years.
What is a heat pump?
A heat pump works by using the heat/cold from one place and transferring it to another place. This duct-less energy-efficient electrical appliance heats and cools your home. Learn more about heat pumps…
Anything else you want to share?
Get a heat pump hot water heater. The payback is much faster than solar panels.
