“I can cover my own electricity use and that of two rental properties.”
Name
Hans Porschitz
What motivated you to install solar?
It is the right thing to do!
How many panels do you have, and if you know, how much energy are you producing, percentage of your electric usage?
40 panels for approximately 12 megawatt-hours (mWh) per year. We are part of a group net-metering arrangement
What is a “group net-metering?”
A New Hampshire law allows someone who is producing solar to share the proceeds from surplus electricity generation with other electric utility account holders, known as group members. Group members do not have net-metered renewable energy facilities and do not have to make any changes to their existing electric service. Learn more about group net-metering.
What has been the biggest benefit so far? What are you excited about?
I can cover the my own electricity use and that of two rental properties.
What were the obstacles to installing solar and what did you do to overcome them?
Getting the group net-metering arrangement approved in 2016. My installer helped me to navigate the approval process.
What advice do you have for people considering installing solar?
Between incentives and making use of currently free energy, it makes sense to lock in your electricity expenses.
Anything else you want to share?
The cost for the systems has been very reasonable and we have very qualified installers in the area.
