“We don’t pay for any electricity bill for usage but still have a $13 bill for taxes and meter charge…the panels produce 100%.”
Name
Heidi and Paul Soltysiak
What motivated you to install solar?
Paul: Climate change, because we pay the same amount for the loan on the solar as our previous electricity bill, and then after 10 years no bill at all.
Heidi: My husband is from England (where solar is very popular) and he wanted them. It was affordable and very easy.
How many panels do you have, and if you know, how much energy are you producing, percentage of your electric usage?
18 panels….I think. We don’t pay for any electricity bill for usage but still have a $13 bill for taxes and meter charge…the panels produce 100%.
What has been the biggest benefit so far? What are you excited about?
Paul: Clean energy that we sell back to the grid.
Heidi: We don’t have an electric bill. So nice for the summer months with air conditioners. We also get money back from what we produce and do not use.
What were the obstacles to installing solar and what did you do to overcome them?
None.
What advice do you have for people considering installing solar?
Find a good company. You might find it pays for itself, and even pays you. It is also socially responsible.
Anything else you want to share?
A carbon neutral life is an investment for your health and for your children. The next time humans have issues with breathing problems will likely be from emissions.
