Roger and Maddie Weinreich representing Good Fortune Jewelry & Pawn
What motivated you to install solar?
Good Fortune focuses on recycling and repurposing pre-owned jewelry. The sustainable and environmental benefits of solar power are also values that our company embraces.
How many panels do you have, and if you know, how much energy are you producing, percentage of your electric usage?
232 panels (395 watts each = 91,640 W) Approximately 112,522 kWh per year. The system runs Good Fortune Jewelry & Pawn and we also share power with some of our neighbors in the Good Fortune Block.
What has been the biggest benefit so far? What are you excited about?
Good Fortune is a team-run business and everyone is delighted to be moving into the world of carbon free energy.
What were the obstacles to installing solar and what did you do to overcome them?
When it was time to re-roof portions of our building, installing the solar panels made good sense. A variety of beneficial financing options became available and we are committed to the business and the downtown community. Good Fortune Jewelry & Pawn will celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2022!
What advice do you have for people considering installing solar?
Start small. We began with one solar panel to charge our cell phones. That was the first baby step we took and it eventually led us to become more comfortable with the idea of “scaling up.”
Anything else you want to share?
Yes, just go for it! Right now! Build the system to be as large and functional as you are able. Make the investment today…for tomorrow!
